Springhead slipped into the bottom 3 of the Manchester Premier League despite a battling display in a 2-1 defeat at league leaders Prestwich Heys. Head started the game brightly and Ryan Fagan saw an early shot dragged wide before a further effort deflected just over the bar. Prestwich were often forced into a more direct approach but came closest to opening the scoring when Brad Lyons rattled the crossbar from fully 30 yards. Head were then indebted to Osman Bushara who saved well at the feet of the Heys forward as the home side got more into the game.
The second half saw Head take the lead when Ryan Hanson was upended in the box and Paul Stevenson duly converted the kick. The game changed in controversial circumstances when literally straight from the kick off Heys attacked and were awarded a penalty after the ball struck the arm of Jonny Pauley from no more than a yard where the ball was played. The spot kick was dispatched and on that harsh decision the whole momentum of the game changed. Heys were now in the ascendancy as Bushara produced 2 more fine stops. Heys took the lead on 78 minutes when Johnson prodded home from close range as the ball just crossed the line. Head pushed for an equaliser and Brad Taylor was unfortunate with a fine drive with only moments remaining.
