Springhead crashed out of the West Riding County Cup as they were beaten 4-1 away to a very good Leeds City out from the West Yorkshire League. Head started the game full of confidence on the back of a recent run of 5 wins out of 6 and took the lead after only 7 minutes. Ryan Hanson jinked inside the fullback and was upended just inside the box to give the local side a penalty. Ryan Fagan duly stroked the ball home for his second in two games. Leeds then began to assert themselves with their rangy forward causing a number of problems for Heads backline. They equalised after 25 minutes when the same forward turned beautifully on the edge of the box before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the stranded Osman Bushara. The same forward then gave Leeds the lead when he curled home a free kick from fully 25 yards out. The same player then grabbed his hat trick 5 mins before half time somewhat controversially. It appeared Head should have been awarded a free kick on the edge of the Leeds box however this wasn't given and Leeds broke quickly punishing Head with the forward finishing neatly at the back post. Head themselves weren't without their moments and Fagan almost reduced the defecit on the stroke of half time when his free kick flashed wide.
The second period was fairly evenly matched as Head pushed for a way back into the game but they found the home sides defence a tough nut to crack. The game was effectively over as a contest with 15 minutes to go when a dreadful mix up between Kion Pryce and Bushara allowed the Leeds forward to nip in and prod home.
