U11 Owls 3 v 0 West End Boys Club Lions U11'S

Our Under 11 Owls made it back to back wins in the league for the first time in over 12 months with a peach of a performance and two sexy goals to boot!

Having lost on the opening day of the season to the same opponents despite being the better side for large chunks of the game there where no such travesties this time round!

Coach 'Gaz' planned to name an unchanged line-up from last weeks 12 nil victory, but bad traffic on the way to the Mike Doyle Centre delayed 3 or 4 of our lads so Plan B came in to force.

A dominant first half display of half chances and decent saves from the oppositions keeper kept the score at one nil, Jack Howarth poking home from a wicked corner that caused havoc in West Ends Defence. Only a slack piece of positional play at the back providing one chance for West End that our first half keeper Jake Fallon superbly saved, diving to his right to push the ball to safety - take a bow son!!

The second half impressed further, Kian Wild winning the ball in central midfield drove at the visitors goal area and played a ball in to the feet of Ben Smith who returned the favour with a superb reverse pass. Kian burst in to the box past the last man and dinked the ball over the advancing keeper in to the far corner of the goal - Unbelievable, Jeff!

If our second goal was special, our third was a real team goal involving Zak Wareing, Jake Fallon, Kian Wild, Ben Smith and finished by Mathew Maguire. Simple passes from the back, waiting for an opening which duly arrived as Ben was played in down the wing, a first time cross expertly bundled home by Mathew. A Genius of a goal, you can’t buy them and they certainly don’t come in packets!!!!

A special mention to both Bailey Hilton and Jake Fallon who both took a share of the goalkeeping responsibilities and equally excelled in their run outs outfield while Zak 'Grandad' Wareing marshalled his defensive troops once again to perfection.

Goalscorers: Jack Howarth, Kian Wild and Mathew Maguire.

Man of the Match: Zak Wareing.
